These reproductions of the general purpose Nr. 8 sprengkapseln (Al) detonators are made from machined aluminum. Original detonators were made of aluminum, steel, zinc, and brass. Some manufactures pressed the first letter of there letter code into the bottom of each detonator or sometimes the number 8 however some were unmarked. These reproductions are unmarked so that you can match them to a box if you choose. These were made to slide over a 6mm thread which was used on German delay pellets. These should fit over an original pellet or accurate replica fuze pellet but may require a little fitting to stay tight.

The wood boxes hold 15 detonators and are made from a dense wood. Originals were made from oak but I will not make them from the same wood so that they can not be resold as originals. The box has a sliding lid with a finger catch and a recessed bottom with a felt pad. The top picture on the page is of an original box the lower pictures are of my reproductions. Some are marked with a Waffen Amt stamp and some are not. I have no way of knowing which is which now that they are all sealed. The vast majority of originals are not marked. The boxes are filled with 15 replica tubes, closed, put in a reproduction cardboard box, and sealed in wax just like originals. They are opened by pulling a string.

Also available are wax sealed boxes containing a simple block of wood. These are not intended to be opened. Since unopened originals are very rare these are a good alternative for display. They fit nice and snug in egg and stick grenade boxes and look good as part of a pioneers kit.

Attention! : As you know wax is a rather soft material. Especially when heated. The stuff can even melt when too much heat is applied. Please take this into consideration when putting together your display. Originals were also sealed in wax.

How to identify my reproductions: Here is some useful information for collectors. My reproductions are all labeled the same. Each is trdf. manufactured, 9.2.42 dated, 201 marked, and the Wa.A. is 191. The wood boxes are not made from oak and lack the small metal lid retainer (visible in the top picture of the original box.) My detonators are turned from aluminum stock not pressed.
